The SEAT Leon Cupra transforms an already impressive hatchback into a genuine hot hatch – and as powerful and swift as this car undoubtedly is, it still offers plenty of practicality.
The standard Leon is already a fine-looking car, but the Cupra takes its appearance to the next level. For instance, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels feature black brake callipers that each bear the Cupra insignia. The vehicle is fitted with dark-tinted rear doors that not only look smart but prevent back-row passengers from being dazzled by sunlight. Meanwhile, a practical five-door body ensures that access is easy for all. Inside, comfort and space is provided for four adult travellers, or a young family of five. A 380-litre boot, meanwhile, increases in size when the 60/40 split-folding rear seats are dropped.
A 2.0-litre 296bhp petrol engine powers the Leon Cupra, delivering 400Nm of torque which whisks you from 0-100km/h in roughly 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 152mph. Included is a Start-stop System, which turns off the engine whenever the car comes to a stop at traffic lights, thus keeping fuel bills to a minimum. Despite its potency, the Leon Cupra manages to achieve efficiency of 7.2l/100km.
A 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system is a standard inclusion, accommodating an eight-speaker stereo, with DAB radio and 10GB hard drive, among other things. Satellite navigation features, too, as does full Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration via MirrorLink. The vehicle comes with a five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating and a host of safety features. For instance, Tiredness Recognition System constantly monitors driver attentiveness levels, signalling whenever it might be a good time to take a break.
