The Transit has been in continuous production for more than half a century and possesses probably the most iconic van name of all – it’s certainly Ford’s largest commercial vehicle.
If you’re looking for a full-size panel van, look no further than the Ford Transit. Available in Leader, Trend and Limited trim levels, as well as three lengths and two heights, this accomplished vehicle is hugely popular with all kinds of businesses. Depending on which variant you select, load capacity ranges from 9,500 litres to as much as 15,100. Thanks to a side sliding door and a pair of 180-degree opening rear doors, you’re presented with flexible options when it comes to loading and unloading. You can choose your ideal seating layout too, from a three-person cab iteration to a double cab version that accommodates up to seven crew members.
The vehicle’s 2.0-litre diesel engine comes with a choice of 104bhp, 128bhp, 168bhp or 183bhp power outputs.
The engine is typically paired with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the six-speed automatic transmission is available as an option (or standard with some 130bhp and 183bhp models).
A four-speaker stereo (with AM/FM radio) provides audio entertainment whenever you need it.
Also included as standard are AUX and USB ports, and remote control functionality. Trend trims add a CD player, smartphone app integration, Bluetooth connectivity and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.
The van is also fitted with a host of driver aids, including several Electronic Stability Control-related technologies. For instance, Curve Control automatically applies individual braking pressure if the vehicle ever begins to corner too quickly.
Ford’s toughest Transit ever features significant mechanical updates to offer customers the best-ever payload and vehicle capability, while maintaining the durability, refinement and car-like driving characteristics that have made Transit a business favourite.
The chassis features upgraded hub assemblies, wheels, tyres and brakes to make light work of heavier loads. Panel vans also benefit from reinforced body structures and ancillaries to support greater cargo weights. The 5.0-tonne Transit is offered as a panel van, single- or double-chassis cab, all rated to 5,000 kg GVM.
The 5.0-tonne option will be available across a broad range of Transit chassis cab variants, giving customers a choice of three wheelbases, four frame lengths, and single- or double-cabs with seating for up to seven occupants (including driver) to best suit their business’ specific requirements.
Maximum chassis cab load capacity is 2,886 kg 2 for body conversion and payload, which equates to up to 2,558 kg net payload 2 when equipped with a factory-fitted flatbed body.
Transit chassis cab is ideal for heavier open-body conversions such as tippers or dropsides, aerial access platforms and vehicle transporters.
All 5.0-tonne Transit variants are rear-wheel drive for optimum traction when fully laden, and fitted with Ford’s HDT powertrain for optimum durability, performance and fuel efficiency.
The new 5.0-tonne Transit variant benefits from many of the key interior design, driver assistance and connectivity features introduced to the Transit family in 2019.
Ford’s innovative connectivity features also help operators to plan maintenance and oversee vehicle security, leading to increased uptime. A FordPass Connect 4 modem features as standard, allowing over-the-air software updates to minimise dealer visits and displaying key information such as vehicle location, oil life and tyre pressures through the FordPass Pro app, 5 simplifying vehicle management.
Underneath the imposing new FORD embossed grille lies the beating heart of the Ford Transit Trail. A van that has been built for those who demand more from their van for not only their business but themselves. This Transit will get you noticed on the road but is still capable of handling the toughest jobs with ease.
Stacked with a host of brilliant new features, the Transit Trail gets the job done no matter where your day takes you. Transporting items for work, friends or family? The Transit Trail still retains its impressive loadspace and carrying capacity, making moving items from A to B effortless.
No matter what the terrain or location, thanks to the mechanical Limited-Slip Differential you can avoid wheel spin on uneven surfaces. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive can be added to supplement the Mechanical Limited-Slip Differential sure-footedness. Both helping drivers on their daily commute across uncertain terrain.
