My name is Conor Vard, Land Rover Brand Manager here at Spirit Land Rover. Today, I’m going to write about Range Rover Sport Plug-In Hybrid and why I love it so much!
Not only is Range Rover Sport Plug-In Hybrid my favourite model, it is also one of our biggest sellers and arguably the best looking premium large SUV in today’s market. Plus, as we all strive to make greener choices, we are seeing more and more customers gravitate towards Plug-In Hybrid models.
What is the range on Range Rover Sport PHEV?
The Range Rover Sport Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) is the best of both worlds. It can be incredibly fuel efficient with combined Fuel economy figures of 3.4L /100km (69 MPG) but at the same time it offers over 400 horse power PS (2.0 Petrol 300PS + 109PS Electric Motor) that can propel the car from 0-100Km/h in just 6.3 Seconds.
With a fully charged battery, the electric range is 51km. Bearing in mind that this is affected by energy being used, outside temperatures and stop start driving, I find the real-world range is around 35km which is still brilliant for day to day driving.
We often use the words “quiet refinement” when speaking to our customer about Range Rover. Start the Range Rover Sport PHEV and all you’ll hear is silence. You’ll see a ready light on the dash and pull away gently making the start of any journey an enjoyable experience.
The Different Driving Modes:
The car automatically goes into “Hybrid Mode” so the car will decide itself whether it goes from electric to engine based on your driving style and what demands you are asking of the car. If you need that power you just floor it and you get a massive surge of acceleration which is very impressive for a car that weighs 2500kg.
Most of our customers here at Spirit Land Rover spend most of their time driving in hybrid mode and enjoy the cheaper fuel bills that come with it.
You can also select an “EV Mode” where the car will do its utmost to stay in full electric mode. This is ideal if you are doing short runs like dropping the kids to school, commuting to work or popping to the shops.
Finally, you can select “Save Mode” where the car will save the battery when driving for later use. This is especially useful if you are going for a long journey. The car will be in petrol and when you get to your destination you still have a full charge of electric power to use to go around the local area.
How often do I need to refuel?
Our Customers find they need to fuel their car less than ever! If driven correctly and charged at home on a daily basis, The Range Rover Sport PHEV is a very economical and green vehicle.
Why is this vehicle so popular?
Since the Range Rover Sport PHEV was launched in late 2018 it has been a huge hit with with our customers here at Spirit Land Rover.

Why buy it now?
The news for 2021 Model Range Rover Sport keeps getting better, the VRT rate has dropped from 14% in 2020 to only 9% for 2021. The Vat rate dropped last September to 21%. This means that the Range Rover Sport PHEV has dropped by €7,860 in price since August 2020!
