Ford Kuga Side Profile

My name is Lynn and I’m the Fleet Manager in Spirit Ford, Sandyford. Today, I’m going to take you through some of my favourite features of the all new Ford Kuga. I’ll also explain a couple of the differences between this model and its’ predecessor so you can get to grips with the changes.

I had the pleasure of driving the new model over the last week and loved every second of it. The model I drove was the Ford Kuga ST Line X 1.5 Diesel 120PS Manual and it retails from €38,320.

Check out my favourite features below:

B&O Sound System

The 12 speaker sound system with sub woofer is definitely on my list of favourite features. Paired with Apple Carplay, I can easily access music from Spotify and listen to it in surround sound. The B&O sound system is a standard feature on the ST Line X which I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys listening to their favourite music while driving.

12.5” Digital Dash Display

As opposed to traditional speed clocks / rev counters the new Ford Kuga comes with a digital dash which is transformable to the display you choose. You can opt between displaying navigation, speed, or music. To enhance the driver experience even more, the visual display changes when you opt between the driving modes. For example, in sport mode the screen becomes black and red. I really love this small detail as it makes the driving experience a little more exciting!

Selectable Drive Modes

Drivers can choose between 5 different drive modes – Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery & Sand / Snow. When sport mode is engaged the steering becomes firmer, dash display is altered & exhaust noise is pumped through the speakers to enhance the driver experience. When Slippery & Sand / Snow is engaged it provides the driver with more piece of mind with increased traction control. When Eco mode is selected although the rate of acceleration is decreased the driver is assured that they are getting more bang for their buck at the pumps with enhanced fuel efficiency. I love experiencing the Ford Kuga within the various driving modes as it helps me see the potential of the vehicle. Plus, I know whatever the weather, this car will support me.

Ford Kuga Hybrid

Now, for some of the differences between new Ford Kuga and the previous version of the model:

New Versus Old

Size

The new Ford Kuga is slightly shorter in height but is still feels very spacious. It is also slightly longer and wider – this gives more space for rear passengers. These changes give the vehicle a sturdier appearance. Another great feature is the ability to bring the rear seats forward to enhance the boot space. This is great when carrying larger loads or goods which take up more space like golf clubs or buggies.

Fuel and Transmission

I’m currently driving the 1.5 diesel manual which is just phenomenal for fuel economy. It is the same tried and tested engine that was available in the outgoing Ford Kuga. It is reliable, fuel efficient and easily maintained.

However, the real excitement with this new Ford Kuga is the Plug in Hybrid Electric version with 225PS, boasting a 56 kilometre range with the 14.4 kw/h battery. Where applicable the SEAI grant and VRT rebate mean the price walk from diesel to PHEV is only €1,900. This is incredible and will help many Ford drivers take their first step towards a greener future.

All in all, the new Ford Ford Kuga is a fantastic vehicle but why not see for yourself? If you are interested in test driving a petrol, diesel, or Plug-In Hybrid version of the new Ford Kuga, get in contact today or simply drop into our showroom in Sandyford.
