Design

The understatedly classy Mondeo rides on 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, which not only look the part but help to deliver enhanced efficiency. A number of body-coloured fixtures also feature, each perfectly complementing your preferred paint finish. Wide-opening doors provide simple access to each passenger compartment, and three adults are easily accommodated in the back row. The car also possesses a 550-litre boot space, access to which is made all the more straightforward thanks to a wide-opening tailgate. With rear seats folded, cargo volume expands to a very useful 1,466 litres.

An extensive selection of petrol and diesel engines are complemented by a new Hybrid edition that offers the utmost in fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions. Diesel options, meanwhile, come in a range of power outputs, yet continue to deliver compliance with new Euro 6.2 emissions standards, thereby enabling you to take to the road with a clear conscience. ​

Technology and safety

Zetec trims are installed with an eight-speaker sound system, featuring a touchscreen display, CD player, DAB radio and AM/FM tuner. Also included as standard is Bluetooth hands-free integration – and an eight-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system. The Mondeo boasts a full five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating. As well as passive safety features such as multiple airbags, seatbelt reminders and ISOFIX child-seat attachments, a host of driver aids are fitted too. For instance, Active City Stop uses on-board sensors that help to prevent low-speed collisions.

Hybrid Technology

The Ford Mondeo was designed to stand out wherever it goes. As befits a car that pioneers technology, the Mondeo is available as a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). By combining the benefits of both electric and petrol power, the Mondeo Hybrid enables you to enjoy outstanding efficiency and refinement along with rewarding performance and driving range.

The Mondeo Hybrid Estate has two sources of power: a conventional fuel engine and a battery-driven, electric motor. The system automatically switches between the powertrains, or uses a combination or both, to deliver a perfect blend of power and efficiency. And to make the whole system even more efficient, regenerative braking captures up to 90% of the energy normally lost through friction brakes, then recycles it to recharge the high-voltage battery.

Intelligent design, smart technology and precision engineering maximise the benefits of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Hybrid technology knows when it’s best to switch from petrol to electric power. The result is smooth, responsive performance, an exhilarating driving experience and combined fuel consumption of only 54.3mpg.

The Ford SmartGauge with EcoGuide uses intelligent design and an intuitive interface to help you drive more efficiently. A high-resolution LCD screen on the dashboard displays real time driving information, including fuel and battery power levels. And an on-screen animation shows you when you’re driving most efficiently to help you maximise your savings.
